Juan Venado Island Natural Reserve

Juan Venado Natural Reserve is 22 km long, 1500 mt wide in its widest part and since 1983 is one of the 76 national areas protected by Nicaragua state for its biodiversity.

Its characteristic mangrove forest is home of miles of migratory birds, several species of reptiles, among which crocodiles, and of a large number of small mammals. From august to December you can seen Paslama turtles laying eggs, which is a spice actually declared in danger of extinction. You can visit the reserve by boat or by kayak.

Itinerary:

Pick up at Europeo Hotel at 7 a.m. and arrival at Juan Venado Reserve around 10 a.m. Tour in the reserse and lunch in a restaurant on the beach. Relaxing afternoon at Las Peñitas beach (you can have a surf class for $25).
Leaving to Managua around 6 pm. and arrival around 8 p.m.
